Cascadias, Detroit power, and the parts-availability advantage

Freightliner is a Daimler Truck brand, and the Cascadia is the highest-volume Class 8 truck on North American highways. Most are built around Detroit DD13 or DD15 power, frequently paired with the DT12 automated manual transmission — a combination that behaves as an integrated system, so a driveability complaint often needs the engine and transmission looked at together rather than in isolation.

Volume has a practical upside for owners: parts for a Cascadia are generally easier to source than for lower-production chassis, which usually means less waiting on a truck that is already down. That is one of the few places where running the common truck genuinely pays.
