What sits under a Peterbilt, and why it matters here

Peterbilt is a PACCAR brand, which is the single most useful fact when planning service. Modern 579s and 389s are commonly built around the PACCAR MX-13, and a great many older and vocational units run Cummins ISX15 or X15 power. Those are two different service conversations — different diagnostic software, different parts channels, different aftertreatment behaviour — so the first question we ask is which engine is actually in the truck, not which badge is on the hood.

Because Peterbilt and Kenworth share PACCAR drivetrain architecture, the mechanical work overlaps heavily. Where they diverge is the cab: layout, HVAC routing and body electrical differ enough that “we work on PACCAR trucks” is not the same as knowing where a given harness runs on a 389.

Emissions work follows the engine, not the badge. Whatever is in the chassis, forced regens, DPF cleaning and replacement, and DEF and SCR repair happen in our bays rather than going out to a third party.

Common questions

Peterbilt dealer or independent shop — which makes sense?

For warranty and recall work, the dealer network is the right call. For everything after warranty, an independent shop that knows class-8 trucks covers what a Pete needs day to day — usually with easier scheduling and one crew that learns your truck.

Do you work on older long-hood Peterbilts?

Yes — pre-emissions iron is welcome here, and it's often simpler to keep healthy than the new stuff. We'll treat the paint like it's ours.
